Dr. James Eakin III
It is with great excitement that SFGMC announces the appointment of Dr. James Granville Eakin III as our new Composer-in-Residence!
James composed the fabulous and stunning #twitterlieder: 15 Tweets in 3 Actssong cycle, which had its world premiere this past spring at Davies Symphony Hall for our show "Passion." The work was performed at the Twitter world headquarters, has since been recorded by the Chorus (purchase here) and published by E.C. Schirmer.
In addition to #twitterlieder, SFGMC has sung James' "We Are the Stars," (Words 2011) "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," (free download here) and our beautiful arrangement of "I Left My Heart in San Francisco."
In his new position, James will be composing at least one major piece each season as well as assisting us with educational outreach. Join us in welcoming Dr. James Granville Eakin III to the SFGMC family!
