My contribution to Songs of the Phoenix is “Resilience” — a poem published in my 2016 collection titled Neon Soul.

I love when artforms mix and mingle. I am very excited that my words and beautiful music/voices will be performed.

I hope that the audience feels less alone in their struggles. Being human is hard, and community care is so important. Resilience was written so that folks know they are not alone—and that they can rise up.

I find that folks are becoming more and more vulnerable. That, to me, is a radical act of love, community, and trust. It makes me hopeful that even when life is hard, we can remain soft and rooted in gratitude for those around us and the life ahead of us.

Writing came into her life by way of therapy and the exploration of healing through journaling and mindfulness. The intention behind Alex’s work is to build community & self-care practices through literature & language.
Alex teaches workshops, courses, and retreats to assist others in finding their voices and create clarity in their lives & relationships.
She is currently a teacher in residence at CIVANA Resort in Carefree, AZ, where she teaches quarterly.
