Raymond Gonzales
Raymond has been with the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus since January 2014. Moving here from a small 2-year stint in Schaumburg, IL, he came to this city knowing nobody, and it was not until he joined the chorus where he found his chosen family. Community has always been important to Raymond as has been shown throughout his career from being the Director of Housing & Student Services in higher education to his current position as the Director of Compliance for a nonprofit organization that has a mission to help people experiencing homelessness get on a pathway out of it.. He enjoys finding the heart of every group and always aims to manage bringing people together from all walks of life.
Raymond received his B.A. in History from UC Merced and M.Ed in Higher & Postsecondary Education from Argosy University. When he is not working or rehearsing music, he may be playing softball with the SF Gay Softball league, singing showtunes at Martuni’s, or raising his lovable corgi, Buckingham.
Why I joined the Board:
In 2015, I became the New Member Committee Chair and have welcomed hundreds of new members into our family. It is a privilege to serve the chorus in a Leadership capacity. Being on the Board continues this work not just for singing members but our outside community, and I’m excited to bring all those individuals into our family.
