Don Howerton
Don is Senior Director for Commercial Procurement at PG&E where he leads the teams responsible for procuring all long-term supplies of wholesale electricity, renewable energy and energy storage. He is an attorney by education and previously served as Director of Energy Contracts in the PG&E Law Department and trading counsel at an energy marketing and trading firm. Don also acts of the DE&I sponsor for his department and has completed the LGBTQ Executive Leadership Program and the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Don is an Oklahoma native and proud graduate of the University of Oklahoma, receiving both his BA in Political Communication and his Law Degree from OU. He is a country boy at heart, having grown up raising and showing cattle, but equally loves the city life in San Francisco. Don is passionate about being of service and giving back to the community as a mentor and through non-profit work, having served on as a board member for Dolores Street Community Services, Clinic By The Bay and Marriage Equality USA. His spare time is spent with his fiancé Nick, great Dane Daisy and friends and family near and far. Cooking, exercising, singing and laughing are Don’s go-to relaxation activities.
Why I joined the Board:
After joining in the fall of 2022, I quickly saw how the power of music was being used so purposefully by the SFGMC to bring joy, create community and educate our world and knew I wanted to contribute in ways that extended beyond singing.
